The Master of Arts in Communication program is a comprehensive and integrated curriculum that bridges communication studies and other fields and focuses on a strategic approach to the discipline.
Exposure to the broad spectrum of communication prepares students, who are primarily working professionals, for advancement in a variety of communication and media professions and services.
The Master of Arts in Communication program provides students with an interdisciplinary approach to problem solving in the field of communication. Students can expect to examine a variety of problems through the lens of communication in diverse areas.
The Master in Communication program is intended for holders of bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Communication Arts, Broadcast Communication, Journalism, Development Communication, Advertising, Public Relations, Communication Research, Film, Audio-Visual Arts, Speech, Theater Arts and allied courses from universities and colleges of recognized standing as certified by the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Academic Council. Those who are in Communication Education, Training, Mass Media, Corporate Communication, Public or Government Information practice for a minimum of three years may apply in the program.
Applicant must also have scholastic rating of at least 2.0, B or 85% in the undergraduate course and must obtain a passing mark in the OU admission test and interview.
Those who are unable to meet the requirements may apply and may be admitted on probation. The enrollee must subsequently obtain an average of 1.75 for the first two semesters earned in the MC program of the PUP Open University.
Applicants for Advanced Studies should pass the OU Entrance Examination and the interview. The following should be submitted to the PUP Open University System's Registrar:
