The Institutional Quality Management System Office (IQMSO) of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines was created by virtue of the Board of Regents (BOR) Resolution No. 2617, series of 2021, during the 175th Regular BOR Meeting held on December 17, 2021. This formally separated the Institutional Quality Management System Office from the Institutional Planning and Quality Management System Office headed by Director Tomas O. Testor.
The establishment of IQMSO emanated from the need for an office that will primarily focus on the Quality Management System (QMS) implementation of the PUP system towards the provision of better services to its clientele resulting in customer satisfaction and maintaining the ISO 9001:2015 Certification of the University.
The University’s success in achieving and maintaining the ISO certification was made possible thru the guidance of the Quality Management Representative and full support of the Executive Committee, as well as the relentless efforts of the QMS Core Team, University Risks and Opportunities Management Committee, Internal Quality Audit Team, Document Control Committee and most especially the process owners.
On December 16, 2018, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) was issued its ISO 9001:2015 Certification by the certifying body, AJA Registrars, Inc. The University has maintained the certification until December 15, 2021. In November 2021, PUP successfully hurdled the Recertification Audit with its enrolled processes expanded from fifty-seven (57) in 2018 to one hundred fifty-eight (158) in 2021 under the areas of leadership and planning operations, support, and performance evaluation. The ISO 9001:2015 Recertification for higher education services covers the main campus, branches, and satellite campuses. The recertification issued by SOCOTEC Certification Philippines Inc. on December 16, 2021, will be valid until December 15, 2024, provided that PUP can comply with the requirements of the surveillance audits in 2022 and 2023.
IQMSO is divided into three sections: QMS Monitoring and Evaluation Section, Risk and Opportunities Management and Services Section, and Document Management and Control Services Section. The three sections, in coordination with the concerned offices in the University, shall ensure that monitoring and evaluation of the quality management system implementation are regularly conducted, risk-based thinking is applied, management and control of documented information are practiced, and regular review of the processes is performed for continuous improvement.
Currently, the Institutional Quality Management System Office is headed by Director Ireneo C. Delas Armas, Jr., with Chiefs Andrea Rose E. Rimorin, Carlo G. Inovero, and Maria Esperanza H. Reyes handling the QMS Monitoring and Evaluation Section, Risk and Opportunities Management and Services Section, and Document Management and Control Services Section respectively. IQMSO is part of the Research, Extension, Planning, and Development Sector under the leadership of the Vice President for Research, Extension, Planning, and Development, Dr. Anna Ruby P. Gapasin, who is concurrently the Quality Management Representative of the University.
