Vision

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines as an academic community that is critical, participative and conscious of Philippine Culture.

Mission

The University Center for Culture and the Arts is committed to:

1. develop, strengthen and sustain artistic and cultural programs for the PUP populace,
2. stimulate artistic and cultural consciousness within the PUP community,
3. manage the programs, activities and development of the different cultural organizations under the Music Section, Dance and Drama Section, and the Visual Arts Section,
4. attend to the careful selection of student artists and entrance artist scholars under each cultural organization, and
5. establish linkages with other artists and cultural organizations, institutions, government agencies or private associations within the country and abroad.

Objectives

•  To enhance the humanist dimension of the PUP community through artistic and cultural programs and activities.
•  To provide venues and avenues of expression for artistic talents to reflect the best capabilities of the PUP students, administrative staff and faculty members.
•  To achieve artistic excellence of UCCA artists as reflected in their performances via concerts, stage productions, art exhibitions and competitions.
•  To discover, hone and develop artistic talents among the PUP populace.
•  To develop awareness and appreciation of the Filipino heritage.
•  To provide cultural and aesthetic education.
•  To assist the various PUP offices, faculty, administrative and student organizations in their cultural plans and/or programs.
•  To participate in local and international cultural affairs and competitions.

Principles

•  All UCCA programs should advance the interest of the PUP.
•  All UCCA programs should reflect the broadest participation of PUP bona fide students.
•  All UCCA artists should aspire for artistic excellence.
•  The development, protection and welfare of UCCA artists and the entire student body shall be assured by the UCCA.

Strategies

•  Encouragement of university artists towards artistic excellence through intensive training in the field of the arts.
•  Encouragement of artistic activities in partnership with PUP units and other cultural organizations within and outside PUP.
•  Utilization of the PUP academic system for the promotion of culture and the arts.
•  Strengthening of linkages with local and international organizations to promote national and international understanding of Filipino culture and the arts.
•  Networking with concerned educational institutions, NGO’s and private sectors for the support and promotion of culture and the arts in local and international cultural affairs.
•  Extension services for the development of cultural groups in the PUP Branches and Campuses.
• Acquisition of needed equipment, facilities and instruments for the various cultural activities.
