The Bachelor of Science in Interior Design (BS Interior Design) is a
four- year baccalaureate degree program offered in the College of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment (CADBE, formerly the College of Architecture and Fine Arts). The programs includes general education,
technical courses (mathematics, natural sciences, professional allied and
technical elective courses, and the non-academic courses PE and NSTP. The
curricular structure of the BS Interior Design program aim to prepare the
student for Interior design licensing and a professional career that
essentially requires certain moral values, communication aptitudes,
dexterity, knowledge and skills that are necessary for professional success.
These objectives are achieved through progression in the course work and in
which scientific training in the lower years are applied in the professional
Interior Design courses in the upper years. All students gain professional
experience and hands-on training through required internship, group project,
Independent studio project, requires community service and research
undertaking which shall enable the student who for some reason are unable to
continue their studies in interior Design could still be armed with
necessary skills in a recognized trade.
The program therefore encourages the complementary pursuits of learning
and practice, reflection and action along with sense of perspective,
adaptation and transcendence. The skills that best serve these values
incorporate intuition, critical thinking, and problem solving, as well as
abilities with spoken, written, graphic and spatial media. In a world of
continuous technological changes, which represent challenges that establish
cultures these timeless values skills endure. They exist as relevant tools
for contemporary life and practice, and as a means towards advancing the
cause of the humane and civilized environment for all.
