From being a department under the College of Engineering since 1987, it gained its independence in 2000 and granted to be known as the College of Architecture and Fine Arts (CAFA) and in 2020 as the College of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment (CADBE). It became a motivation of proving itself as a worthy cog in the wheel of the university. The college aims to be the well spring of knowledge to the economically-challenged but deserving students instilling in them their responsibilities to their fellowmen and awareness in the conservation of the environment that must always be coupled with utmost dedication, professionalism and integrity. The Architecture and Interior Design courses have produced competent graduates who have become topnotches, and world-renowned architects and interior designers. We shall continue to fulfill our tasks and welcome the challenges.
Humility in excellence finds propriety and relevance in the College of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment (CADBE, formerly the College of Architecture and Fine Arts)as its graduates continue to shine and carve their own names in their field. Students are honed to be the epitome and the living example of the scientist and the artist. This is the product of the collective effort and active involvement of the faculty, students, alumni, the stakeholders in the industry and most of all the support of the administration. The long and painstaking preparations and institutionalizing our policies were geared towards achieving the panacea of our dreams. Our pursuit to guide and inspire the brimming eagerness of our students to learn shall be inexhaustible and we ensure that nobody gets left behind.
We have initiated activities to involve other colleges in the university to accentuate outcomes-based education through team-based learning and simulation. We have also launched the Practitioner-Educator Team Teaching Program to bridge theory and practice. We entered into agreements of mutual cooperation with other universities in the country and the ASEAN region. We have encouraged our faculty to be active in research and its dissemination through our extension programs. We shall be vigilant in dealing with both the unforeseen and foreseen future through research collaboration. We will continue to grow with our programs that are significant to the changing demands of the built environment and the society.
It is a humbling experience being at the helm of the college. However, one's worth is not measured by tenure but the yardstick is on his constancy and relevance through the raging waves of the times. The task that lies ahead and the attendant expectations are demanding and overwhelming. It places us under the litmus test but we shall remain steadfast and continue to work.
Be that as it may, it is our hope that has become a prayer that someday we may finally achieve to be rightfully called the first among equals.
This is a pledge to the Iskolar Para Sa Bayan!
