Bachelor of Arts in English (ABE)

Level 3 Accredited (Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines)

The AB English program is a four-year course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts, major in English.

The program is designed principally to produce graduates who will service the teaching profession; its broad-based (and therefore flexible) quality will allow its graduates to service other sectors of society both here and abroad.

Objectives of the Program

Attain high-level communicative competence in English and other languages spoken universally;
Acquire a great repertoire of learning strategies that will make them successful second language learners;
Use technology as a basis for continued knowledge construction, for both academic and lifelong learning;
Strengthen their skills and competencies in the use of English and other languages as medium of instruction;
Keep abreast of the current research findings, issues, and directions in language teachings and linguistics;
Advance, create and disseminate knowledge in the fields of languages and linguistics through research, linkages and networking programs.

Admission Requirements

PUPCET: Upper 60%
High School Gen. Ave.: 85% or better
English Grade: 82% or better
Should pass an interview and a written exam

Retention Requirements

The students shall submit themselves to all university policies and on retention requirements as stipulated in PUP Student Handbook.

Graduation Requirements

The candidate/student, after having to fulfill and complies all university requirements for graduation as stipulated in Article 16 of PUP Student Handbook must:
