Based on the approved resolution of the PUP Board of Regents in August 2012, the College of Arts and Letters (CAL) was established after the merging of two colleges: the College of Arts and the College of Languages and Linguistics. Initially, the CAL offers four bachelor programs, that is, Bachelor of Arts in English, Batsilyer ng Artes sa Filipinolohiya/Bachelor of Arts in Filipinology, Bachelor of Performing Arts, and Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. But now, it also offers Bachelor of Arts in Literary and Cultural Studies and Batsilyer ng Artes sa Malikhaing Pagsulat/Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing.
As a service college of the University, CAL continues to promote and uphold humanistic ideas to empower the Filipino people. Today, the CAL comprises four departments: Department of English, Foreign Languages, and Linguistics (DEFLL), Kagawaran ng Filipinolohiya/Department of Filipinology (KF/DF), Department of Humanities and Philosophy (DHP), and Department of Performing Arts (DPeA).
