The Polytechnic University of the Philippines Disaster Rescue Boat was introduced to the community at the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Pureza Sub-station, Sta. Mesa, Manila on October 22, 2018.
The PUP Disaster Rescue Boat, which was made by PET bottles, was donated by the Manila Bay Sunset Partnership Program Inc., (MBSPPI) a subsidiary program of LANDBANK of the Philippines and assembled by the students from Senior High school (STEM 12-5), BPEA 1-1 and BSIT 1-1 of Polytechnic University of the Philippines Sta. Mesa Manila.
During the ceremony, University Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Assistant Team Leader Jean Paul Martirez explained the importance of the rescue boat.
PCG Pureza Sub-station Commander Abraham G. Tan, PCG Auxiliary and PUP Institutional Planning Office Director Thomas Testor, and Safety and Security Service Director Jimmy M. Fernando graced the ceremonies.
The event was spearheaded by the General Services Office - Community Relations Development Center in cooperation with the University Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council.
