The University forged new ties with various organizations for scholarships and student support. Since August, executive officials and heads of the Student Affairs and Services sector have been hosting both online and face-to-face Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing events. The majority of the partnerships cover scholarship programs to specific degree programs and financial assistance to students.
“Since 2011, the QCRB Foundation has supported 95 underprivileged, academically deserving students through financial assistance, while also instilling among our scholars the value of paying-it-forward. We hope to continue this great opportunity to help poor students get quality education and go on to work their way out of poverty and improve their quality of life,” Cynthia Camacho, a representative of the University’s longest-running partner, the Quezon City Realty Board Foundation, Inc. The partnership has been renewed last October 24 at the PUP Career Center, Sampaguita Building.
Director Ana Liza Publico of the Office of Scholarship and Financial Assistance shared that open communication with its partners has been established throughout the years, a testament to the growing number of benefactors for our students. She added that the University’s good reputation and the exemplary performance of its students and alumni are primary motivations for continued support.
In an email interview, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Tom Testor expressed his gratitude to the benefactors and hoped for more kind hearts to support the University’s cause for quality education: “The partnership of PUP with the generous benefactors supports the mission of the university on ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and its commitment to providing democratized access to educational opportunities for the holistic development of individuals.”
At least eight new benefactors have formally signed an agreement with the University. These include ZTE Philippines, Inc. last August 16 providing scholarship for various engineering and information technology courses; Villaruz and Villaruz and Company, and Torre, Sobremonte and Associates Company last September 13; and Vestas Foundation last October 4. Individual benefactors include Engr. Eduardo S. Albaran II last September 3; Ms. Luisa Caleon, CPA last September 13; Ms. Catherine Sotto last October 24; and Dean Sylvia Sarmiento last October 25.
