The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) was honored with the Commission on Higher Education Internationalization Champions of Nation-Building and Sustainability (CHED-ICONS) Award on December 16 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in acknowledgment of the University’s outstanding performance in globally recognized rankings and ratings.
PUP is commended as one of the higher education institutions (HEIs) in the country recognized by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings, Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, and the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI).
On behalf of the University, PUP President Dr. Manuel M. Muhi accepted the award during the event. The recognition was presented by CHED Chairperson Dr. J. Prospero E. De Vera III and the CHED-International Affairs Services (IAS).
Global Prestige After the University’s debut in the 2024 THE Impact Rankings, placing 1501st among the top universities in the world, PUP has once again secured a spot in the QS list of World University Rankings for 2025, where it placed 541–560 in Asia and ranked 92nd in Southeast Asia. This accomplishment underscores PUP’s ongoing commitment to promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through its institutional programs.
Moreover, the University has made waves in global innovation, ranking 271st among 1072 innovative universities in the 2024 WURI.
The ICONS Awards 2024 celebrated institutions for their remarkable contributions to both the academic and social communities, particularly in the areas of leadership and the arts.
PUP’s recognition in the CHED-ICONS Awards is rooted in its strong global performance, showcasing the University’s steadfast dedication to excellence, innovation, and sustainability on a global scale.
