PUP Calauan Campus together with the PUP Extension Management Office- Community Relations and Outreach Services (CROS) conducted an outreach program at four barangays and one Hospice Center in Calauan, Laguna in June 30, 2021.
To commemorate the 12th Founding Anniversary of the PUP-Calauan Campus, they invited the PUP-EMO Community Relations and Outreach Services unit to organize this outreach program as one of the celebration's highlights. The outreach aims to promote the importance of maintaining good health and wellness, especially in the time of a health crisis.
In partnership with the General Services Office-University Nutrition, the program was conducted in Barangay Prinza, Barangay Sto. Tomas, Barangay Mabacan, Barangay Perez, and Hospice of St. Margaret of Cortona, Inc.
Asst. Prof. Joan Corañes from the GSO-University Nutrition Services led a health and wellness talk geared towards the teenagers who attended the program. She talked about wellness activities that the beneficiaries may do as a diversion from the anxiety that most people feel in these trying times. A total of 400 wellness outfits were also distributed among the beneficiaries of the four Barangays.
The University also visited the Hospice of St. Margaret of Cortona, Inc. There, they distributed snacks to over 40 children. In total, the outreach had an overall impact on 440 beneficiaries.
Asst. Prof. Airavie Joy DR. Austria, Chief of the PUP-EMO CROS unit, stated that the university regularly conducts these outreach projects. Most of the programs and projects they organize outside the university are in partnership with PUP's Branches and Satellite Campuses. She added that it is a great privilege for the university to have the opportunity to help people through these outreach programs.
