The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Parañaque Campus signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with local cultural group Dulaang Palanyag Institute for Arts and Culture, Inc. (DPIACu) on May 20 at the PUP Parañaque Campus Director’s office.
The partnership focuses on promoting Palanyag (the original name of Parañaque) arts and culture within the campus through theater performances, Komedya—a traditional theater art of Palanyag—cultural workshops, theater productions, and the establishment of a student organization dedicated to theater enthusiasts.
DPIACu President Victor Myron Winston Santiago expressed his gratitude for PUP Parañaque’s willingness to partner with their organization, noting that the collaboration will enable them to fulfill their goal of enriching the city's arts and culture. Meanwhile, Campus Director Atty. Ernesto C. Salao stated his excitement about the partnership’s future.
“This is a message for us that exciting opportunities await, not just for this institution, but most especially to the students who are into culture and the arts.” He said.
To conclude the MOU signing ceremony, PUP Parañaque Campus Culture and Arts Head Dr. Elizabeth L. Pambuena reiterated the institution's commitment to this new partnership, saying that it is significant for advancing Palanyag arts and culture within the city.
Through this forged understanding, the Sintang Paaralan reaffirms its commitment to the promoting and safeguarding Filipino arts and cultural heritage, ensuring its integration into community development. This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
The Sintang Paaralan continues to elevate programs focused on culture and the arts—fostering a culturally resilient and appreciative PUP community.
