Four (4) students won top ranks in various competitions during the 20th National Rizal Youth Leadership Institute of the Knights of Rizal (NYRLI). Jhunval Escosio is first place in Patimpalak Dagliang Talumpati, while John Robert de Castro also topped the News Writing Competition. Benhur Queqquegan placed second in Makabayang Sayawitan. Flory Joy Alvarez ranked first in the Extemporaneous Speaking Contest and was also a Finalist in Jose Rizal Model Student Award.
The annual competition showcases the exceptional talents and skills of students and was held at the Baguio Teachers Camp, Baguio City. It was organized by the Knights of Rizal (KoR), with the theme, “Rizal in Dapitan: Systems Thinking in Action.” It also aims to inculcate in the minds and hearts of the youth leaders the tenets of Rizalian leadership, character building, and socio-cultural awareness that are essential to becoming effective and responsible citizens.
Flory Joy, who placed 1st in extemporaneous speaking and was a finalist for the Jose Rizal Model Student Award, extends her gratitude to Sintang Paaralan.
“I believe that we cannot be victorious alone, it takes a community to build an achiever and I am fortunate enough to be trained by a nationalistic, mass-oriented, and scientific university who is not only after the awards and recognition but for a greater purpose — to serve the Filipino Masses. Bringing back all the honor and glory only to God and the Filipino People because they are the primary mover of our History,” Flory said.
513 delegates from across the nation attended this 60th NRYLI, setting a new record for participants.
