Message from the Executive Director

It is my honor to welcome you to the official webpage of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Open University System (PUP OUS), the Country’s first Open University. As the pioneering institution in open distance and elearning (ODeL), we are committed to provide accessible, inclusive, and quality education for all.

Since its establishment in 1990, the PUP OUS has stood as a pillar of innovation within the University, serving thousands of students from diverse backgrounds including working professionals, migrant workers, out of school youths, indigenous people, persons deprived of liberty, and learners from geographically isolated communities despite of sexual orientation and gender identity and expression. I take pride in leading a team that continues to build on this legacy while responding to the evolving needs of the 21st century learner.

Under my leadership, OUS has continued to expand its reach through different projects to provide more access to education to the underserved communities. We have also advanced the internationalization of our programs through strategic partnerships, faculty exchanges, and participation in global dialogues on open and flexible education.

The shift to self-paced learning, enhanced digital platforms, and outcomes-based academic design has empowered more Filipinos, wherever they may be, to pursue their educational aspirations at their own time and pace.
