The Polytechnic University of the Philippines awarded several radio, advertising, print and television personalities as they hosted the 2nd Mabini Media Awards on December 2, 2016 at the Bulwagang Balagtas, Sta. Mesa Campus, Manila.
The winners were selected by the students of the University through its Online Student Information System. The Mabini Media Awards gathered a total of 65,098, highest from any University-award giving body.
The lists of winners per category are as follows:

Aside from all the awards voted by the students, Luis Teodoro of Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility was the first Gat Apolinario Mabini Achievement Awardee. This is an award given to an individual whose character, personality, values, principles, and achievements in the field of media exemplify the nobility and heroism of Apolinario Mabini, one of the considered icons of the university.
Teodoro, as deliberated by a committee, whose members come from the different sectors of the University, was chosen because of his outstanding works as media practitioner and his known reputation and professionalism, exemplifying the intelligence, and patriotism of the late Filipino hero, Mabini.
