Faculty from the different colleges, branches and campuses of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) participated in the recently held training-workshop titled “Pathways to Refereed Journal Publication in the Field of Education and Social Sciences.” The current batch of attendees gathered at the University’s ICTO on July 15-17, 2019 with their proposed researches for publication.
Philippine Normal University (PNO) Publications Director Dr. Marie Paz Morales facilitated the three-day training workshop once again, with the able leadership of PUP Research Management Office (RMO) Director Dr. Jackie D. Urrutia and his team.
On the first day, Dr. Morales discussed the importance of research and publication in the ASEAN region and in adaptation to IR 4.0. She also covered topics such as Publication Basics, Journal Search, Predatory Journals, Checking for Indexing and Publication Ethics. In the afternoon, a short lecture on literature review and doing the introduction was held. The second day was dedicated to hands-on training by enhancing current draft research papers, as well as a lecture on Research Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion and Recommendations, and Journal Preliminaries. Final outputs ready for submission to ISI Scopus indexed journals were completed on the last day of the training.
“Pathways” is organized to help faculty researchers publish their articles in reputable journals indexed by ISI and Scopus. By proper orientation and training, it is the goal of this activity that more than 10 research articles would serve as outputs and eventually be published in ISI Scopus Journals.
