The Salin Kaalaman Tungo sa Kaunlaran, as the flagship extension program of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, aims to transfer its expertise, knowledge, and technologies to the communities that are in need of their development.

This logo represents the PUP's unwavering commitment in the delivery of services to the partner communities through the utilization of its material and human resources. The transfer of technology that is being carried out by faculty members in their respective expertise ensures growth and development among members of the community, thus, leading to the transformation of life and meaningful societal change.

• The hands symbolize the synergistic relationship of PUP with its partner communities. PUP's framework for extension rests on the idea that it not only passes on its expertise to the community, but it also learns from them. 
• The group of people in green color represents the partner communities of PUP who are healthy and empowered.
• The image of the house in brown symbolizes the home of the partner communities to which PUP aims to help develop together with the people. It also symbolizes a home that is willing to accommodate and lead the people in the community towards development ("Tungo sa Kaunlaran").
• The person in blue represents PUP's experts trusted by the University and its partner communities to aid in the transfer of expertise to help uplift the lives of people. It symbolizes intelligence, communication, and professionalism.
• The person in orange represents PUP's partner communities as cheerful and warm. It represents the communities' openness to PUP's services, and its willingness to enrich the University's expertise with its everyday lived experiences.
• The Pylon originally stood for the true, the good and the beautiful.
• The Triad of pillars may also stand for wisdom, strength and beauty because there should be wisdom to contrive, strength to support and beauty to adorn any great or important undertaking. Since 1987, however, the Pylon came to symbolized truth, excellence and wisdom.
