The primary aim of the Gender and Development Office is to actively integrate gender mainstreaming into all aspects of the university's operations. This entails advocating for gender equity, diversity, and social inclusion across various domains such as academia, research, extension activities, policies, programs, and administrative processes. This holistic approach is crucial for promoting and safeguarding human rights within the university community, including its campuses, thereby ensuring the well-being of students, faculty members, and administrative employees of our Sintang Paaralan.
Our specific functions mandate us to (1) establish, maintain, and reinforce the gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) mainstreaming program of the institution towards a gender-sensitive and inclusive university, (2) promote gender sensitivity, inclusion, responsiveness, and a safe space for the diverse members of the PUP community, (3) formulate plans and programs towards the development of curricula in gender and development education, (4) develop training programs to prepare faculty members to handle courses related to gender and development, (5) facilitate capacity-building activity for researchers interested in conducting Gender-related research, (6) facilitate capacity-building activity for the GAD Focal Point System, GAD coordinators, and GAD advocates to strengthen the gender mainstreaming of the University, and (7) establish and maintain linkages with national and international organizations, advocates, and educational institutions engaged in similar gender mainstreaming campaigns
